La Peña Abejorral

Hostal of Adventure

Chapoleros, mules, chivas, and the aroma of farm-grown coffee capture the 150+ years of history behind La Peña Abejorral. This coffee farm, located in the “La Peña” rural area of the municipality of Abejorral, Antioquia, was founded and nurtured by the hardworking Mejía family, a family of true “pura sepa” (authentic roots). However, due to Colombia’s challenging internal conflict in 2002, all the residents of the area were displaced, taking with them the lively spirit of the coffee fields. The farm was abandoned, and its coffee crops were overtaken by the reclaiming forces of nature.

In 2013, climbers discovered “El Cerro San Vicente,” a peak located on the farm. This marked the beginning of the development of the “La Peña” sport climbing park and the dream of transforming it into an adventure hostel. In 2016, that dream became a reality when five climbers started what is now known as “Hostal La Peña,” which welcomes anyone eager to experience this incredible place.
