better road*

It used to be 20 km of 4x4 track. Now you can drive to the farm gate and only 500 m remain: a 10-minute walk. *Road conditions can change. Check with us on WhatsApp before you go.

Via Santa Bárbara

Recommended · ~2.5 h

  1. Leave Medellín heading south through Caldas and climb the Alto de Minas pass.
  2. 5 km after Santa Bárbara, turn left toward El Cairo.
  3. Follow the dirt road down to the river and the cement plant, then 1 km along the riverbank.
  4. Cross the bridge and climb about 10 km to La Peña. Look for the yellow sign.

Via La Ceja and Abejorral

  1. From La Ceja, take the road to Abejorral.
  2. In town, take the dirt road on the right just after the gas station.
  3. Continue 17 km on the main road to the yellow sign on the left.

By bus

Every day

  1. North Terminal, Sonar (ticket window 5): 5:30 am and 12:30 pm.
  2. South Terminal, Cootrabe: 3:30 pm.
  3. Get off on the main road and walk 10 minutes.
  4. Back to Medellín: 5:30 am, 12 pm and 1 pm.
